I need to get a replacement lens for the driver side brake light on my ‘03 Odyssey. Ebay’s got one for $20 with $12 in shipping. Is this a good deal, or would it be cheaper to source one here in Austin? And if so, how so?

You should get in contact with your local junkyards and ask if they have any gen 2 Odysseys on their lot. Bonus if you have to remove the part yourself, because those ones charge less.

My rule for as long as I’ve been buying parts is that ebay + lighting = sketchy. Fading, mismatched color/asymmetry, questionable construction. For an ‘03 that sees daily abuse, it might be okay though. I’m guessing around $100-$130 from a dealer, maybe a little less online? You can always try odyclub, which has all six Odyssey enthusiasts in North America! There are quite a few part-outs on the site if you're patient.

If that's the picture from e-bay, I'd say it's used. While that is not a bad price, you might get it cheaper all in at a salvage yard. Just a quick look at car-part.com shows they can run from $30 to $100 at Texas salvage yards, so like I said you might be able to do better, but not a bad price either.

Yes, it’s used. I have no need for a brand new part. The price range you quoted is just enough to make me order online and keep my shoes clean. Thanks.

If this is picture of the actual item, then it will be fine. I’m not taking the Ody to any car shows.

I’ve never been. What’s the process?

Go to the front desk and ask if they have one, if they don’t, they’ll ask around the other yards to see who does. If it’s the self service kind, you take some tools and boots, pay the dude at the fence, walk in and look for an Odyssey like yours, pull them off, and pay for them in the front gate

Sounds like an adventure. Thanks!

$32 is a pretty decent deal, but as noted by others, fading may be an issue.

LKQ lists several available in the Austin area, ranging from $30 to like $90. And at some of the places you may be able to talk them down too if there aren’t too many other customers around.

I can tell you the LKQ on s congress has probably never seen an odessey in its life so dont waste your time. There is a sweet previa there though - midengined van ftw! And there was also an svx for a few weeks

Thanks, but after discussing it with my advisor, I went ahead and bought the one on eBay.
